Level Design: Crafting Player Flow

Level design is where the rubber meets the road. It’s not just making things look pretty; it’s about flow. Where do you put the cover? Where is the ammo? A good designer uses light and geometry to subconsciously guide the player. If a player gets lost, the design failed.

It controls the pacing—intense fights followed by quiet moments. For Supportsoft, it’s also about performance. As a practical game developer in Sydney, we ensure the level isn't too heavy for the hardware. We use "occlusion culling"—basically not drawing what you can't see—to keep big worlds running smooth.
