Adjusting Character Kerning

Kerning is the process of adjusting the spacing between two specific characters. It corrects visual unevenness to ensure the word looks consistent and professional.

Kerning is that subtle detail that separates amateur layouts from professional polish. It refers to manually adjusting the space between two specific letters. Unlike "tracking" (which spaces out a whole word), kerning targets those awkward gaps where letters don't fit together quite right.

Take the capital letters "A" and "V." Because of their diagonal angles, they naturally create a huge visual gap if you don't tuck them closer together. The same goes for a "T" and a lowercase "o." If we leave those gaps, the word looks disjointed. While software handles this automatically for small text, we always check the kerning on logos and big headlines to ensure the "color" (density) of the text feels smooth and intentional.
