How HTML Structures Content on the Web
Web Content Structure and Presentation with HTML - HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the basic markup language for organising and presenting content on the Internet. HTML is the means by which a web browser can read and display HTML content on a web page, such as headings, paragraphs, images, hyperlinks and forms, etc., using a tag-based analysis method. Therefore, while HTML provides a basic level of hierarchy, the visual presentation of HTML content will be provided by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and interactive elements will be provided by JavaScript.
The main purpose of HTML is to provide meaning to content. For example, by using appropriate tags for navigation, lists and buttons, you enable both the web browser and assistive technology to better understand how a page is constructed and what it contains. The use of proper HTML tags helps to improve the user experience, accessibility of content and discoverability in search engines.
Since its inception, HTML has changed a lot. With the recent release of HTML5, organisations now have several new and enhanced features, such as the ability to support audio and video content, create canvas elements for rendering graphics, add semantic label elements to structure the layout of the web page and enhanced form controls. These features allow developers to create richer web experiences without needing to rely on plug-ins for every feature. As such, HTML serves as the foundation of every website; it is essential for maintaining the integrity, readability and accessibility of your digital content across all platforms and devices.
