Designing with Gradients
A gradient is a gradual transition between two or more colors. It adds depth, dimension, and realism to flat designs, mimicking natural light and shadow.
A gradient is a smooth blend from one color to another. For a while, these were considered "retro," but they are back in a big way. Why? Because the real world isn't flat colors. Light hits surfaces and creates natural shifts in tone.
We use subtle gradients to make buttons look clickable (giving them a 3D feel) or to make backgrounds feel dynamic. A "duotone" gradient—blending our brand blue into a lighter cyan—can make a boring stock photo look like a custom brand asset.
