Utilizing Warm and Cool Colors

Warm colors (red, orange) evoke energy and advance visually. Cool colors (blue, green) evoke calm and recede into the background. 

The color wheel is split in two.

• Warm colors (reds, oranges, yellows) are energetic and urgent. They are "advancing" colors, meaning they look like they are coming toward you. That’s why we use them for alerts, errors, and "Buy Now" buttons.
• Cool colors (blues, greens, purples) are calming and professional. They are "receding" colors, meaning they sit back visually. This makes them perfect for backgrounds and establishing trust—which is why so many tech and finance companies (us included) lean heavily on blue.
