UI Design for Clear, Engaging Digital Interaction
The purpose of User Interface (UI) Design is to create the visual and interactive components of the digital product. The components consist of the layout, typography, colour, iconography, buttons, and navigation hierarchy of a digital product. As a result, the User Experience (UX) is established by how the product fits together; UI establishes how the product looks and feels to the user. A good UI design balances visual aesthetics with function; every element visually communicates what users are to do and what the structure of the digital product will be.
The UI designer creates high-fidelity mockups, style guides, design systems and component libraries to ensure consistent visual representation of the screens. Furthermore, UI designers work with developers to ensure the product is implemented accurately and designed to respond correctly across all devices. The four primary principles of UI design are contrast, spacing, alignment and intuitive interaction patterns. A well-designed UI increases usability, brand identity and user trust. By eliminating model clutter and directing focus to the clear affordances of the product, UI design directly affects a user's experience with the digital product.
