Adjusting Color Saturation

Saturation defines the intensity and purity of a color. High saturation appears vivid and energetic, while low saturation looks washed out, serious, or muted.

Saturation is the "intensity" knob. 100% Saturation is neon, vivid, and punchy (think highlighter pen). Low Saturation is muted, grayish, and subtle (think cloudy day).

High saturation screams "Look at me!"—so we use it for alerts and buttons. Low saturation feels sophisticated and professional—so we use it for backgrounds and panels. If everything is fully saturated, your eyes get tired. We balance the two to guide your attention.
