Designing the Logotype
A logotype is a logo centered around the company name, styled in a unique typeface. It relies on custom lettering rather than a symbol to identify the brand.
A logotype (or "wordmark") is a logo that is purely text. Think Google, Coca-Cola, or FedEx. There’s no separate symbol; the name is the logo.
We use a logotype when the name is distinct and we want to build name recognition. It relies entirely on typography—the shape of the letters, the kerning, and the style—to convey the personality.
