Leaderboards: Driving Competition

Ego drives engagement. That’s what a leaderboard is for. It proves you’re better than your friends. A simple list of high scores can keep a player coming back for weeks just to reclaim the #1 spot. It turns a solo game into a social battle.

But global leaderboards can be depressing. No one wants to see they are ranked #9,000,000. So we use "Friends" lists or "Leagues" to keep the competition close and beatable.
