Game Balancing: Fair Play Dynamics

Balancing is the art of making sure no weapon or character is "OP" (overpowered). If one gun kills everyone instantly, the game gets boring fast. But if the game is too hard, people quit. It’s a tightrope walk. Designers tweak numbers constantly—nerfing damage here, buffing speed there.

In multiplayer, this never ends. The "meta" always shifts. For a game developer in Sydney like us, it involves tons of playtesting and math. We look for exploits—ways players break the rules to win—and patch them out. The goal is for a loss to feel fair, so the player says "one more try" instead of "this game sucks."
